Billing & Revenue Cycle Specialist (eClinicalWorks Required)

About the role

A US-based behavioral health practice is looking for an experienced, highly organized Internal Billing and Revenue Cycle Specialist to oversee all internal billing operations. The role covers patient billing, accounts receivable, payment posting, collections, denial management and acts as the main contact for patient financial inquiries and external billing partners. It is a full-time, 100% remote position.

Key responsibilities

• Manage internal billing and collection activities and oversee the full billing lifecycle, from claim creation and submission to payment posting and accounts receivable
• Review claims for accuracy before submission and investigate and resolve denials, rejections and underpayments, submitting corrected claims and appeals
• Work accounts receivable aging reports to ensure timely reimbursement and act as liaison with external billing vendors
• Manage patient balances, contact patients about outstanding balances, process payments, reconcile discrepancies and keep accurate account records
• Serve as the billing phone line contact, answering questions on deductibles, copays, eligibility, benefits, payment plans and statements, and escalating complex issues
• Report on revenue cycle metrics such as days in accounts receivable, clean claim rate and payment posting timeliness
• Maintain compliance with HIPAA, payer guidelines and federal and state regulations, and collaborate with administrative staff and leadership

Required profile

• Minimum 2 to 3 years of medical billing and revenue cycle experience
• Experience with eClinicalWorks (eCW)
• Experience with commercial insurance plans and Medicare Part B (required)
• Behavioral health or mental health billing experience
• Strong customer service, communication, analytical and organizational skills, able to work independently and accurately
