Billing Coordinator

About the role

The Billing Coordinator will manage all insurance billing and payment activities for services provided at Clinton Counseling Center, a busy behavioral health outpatient clinic in Mount Clemens. This contract position works closely with providers to ensure accurate documentation, billing, and reimbursement while complying with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 confidentiality rules.

Key responsibilities

• Verify daily accuracy of patient postings and prepare all OP & IOP billing for third‑party insurance, Medicaid, and MCCMH.
• Coordinate admission documentation, post insurance payments, and verify private insurance claims.
• Contact third‑party insurers to resolve denied claims and complete quarterly billing audits.
• Prepare and mail monthly statements, manage client account refunds, and maintain petty cash.
• Support credentialing of clinical staff and notify supervisors of billing issues.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; some college preferred.
• Experience with third‑party and Macomb County FOCUS billing.
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong math and accounting knowledge.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work under distractions.
• Must pass a background check.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Proficiency with Google Drive.
• Experience using eThomas billing software.
