Bilingual Early Childhood Teacher (Head Start)

About the role

This position is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising classroom activities for both typically developing children and children with disabilities in a Head Start setting. The teacher works closely with an integrated team to meet program goals and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver a developmentally appropriate curriculum that supports intellectual, social, and physical growth.
• Ensure classroom compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, Texas Education Agency, NAEYC accreditation, and TDFPS licensing regulations.
• Observe, assess, and document children’s progress using the program’s assessment system.
• Communicate regularly with parents about their child’s development and maintain accurate records.
• Supervise teaching assistants and volunteers, assigning purposeful tasks.
• Maintain regular attendance and submit required reports on time.

Required profile

• Experience working with young children; teaching experience highly desirable.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
• Highly qualified Texas teaching certificate or acceptance into an approved alternative certification program with TEXES exam results.
• Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or related field (or equivalent coursework).

Required skills

• Fluency in English and Spanish.
• Knowledge of Head Start standards, Texas Education Agency regulations, NAEYC accreditation, and TDFPS licensing.
• Ability to develop lesson plans and employ diverse instructional techniques.
• Strong documentation and parent‑communication skills.
