Benefit Configuration Analyst (National Remote)

About the role

UnitedHealth Group (Optum) is hiring a Benefit Configuration Analyst for a national remote position, open to anyone in the U.S. who can telecommute. The role is full-time, Monday to Friday, and requires flexibility to work any 8-hour shift between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm PST; occasional overtime may be needed. The analyst works with minimal guidance and supervision, auditing and updating benefit configurations so that claims processing payment rules are correctly applied.

Key responsibilities

• Understand how benefit configuration ties to claims processing payment rules.
• Use knowledge of benefit plans and documents to create and update product configuration elements.
• Gather, assess, interpret and document customer needs with stakeholders.
• Analyze system issues and research claims issues to find configuration gaps.
• Design, configure and build product and benefit components.
• Audit configuration against benefit plan requirements and source documentation.
• Meet productivity, schedule and quality standards and act as a resource to teammates.

Required profile

• High school diploma / GED or equivalent work experience.
• Age 18 or older.
• 2+ years of experience with Epic-Tapestry, EZ-CAP, Xcelys, IDX or FACETS.
• 2+ years of experience with Medicare benefit configuration, claims issue resolution or similar configuration work.
• Ability to work independently, multi-task and in a fast-paced environment; good attendance.
• Preferred: health insurer experience with medical plan case installation, provider billing and Medicare medical benefit plans.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Computer proficiency, including learning new applications.
• Oral and written communication skills.
• Remote workers must have a dedicated, private workspace and access to a UnitedHealth Group-approved high-speed internet connection.

• Hourly pay of $29.00 to $52.00 depending on experience and other factors.
