Behavioral Health Technician – Recovery Support Specialist

About the role

The Recovery Support Specialist provides essential assistance to clients throughout their treatment journey at Indiana Treatment Centers in Mishawaka. Working on rotating shifts, the specialist helps maintain a safe, structured, and recovery‑oriented environment, supporting daily routines, treatment goals, and crisis response.

Key responsibilities

• Assist clients with daily living activities, recreation, community meetings, and scheduled appointments.
• Provide orientation to new clients, covering rules, expectations, schedules, and facility layout.
• Monitor client participation in recovery activities and communicate observations to clinical staff.
• Facilitate or co‑facilitate psychoeducational and skills‑based groups under supervision.
• Respond to emotional, social, or health‑related crises and escalate as needed.
• Conduct vital signs, urine drug screens, and breathalyzer tests, maintaining chain‑of‑custody documentation.
• Assist with medication monitoring and ensure compliance with site policies.
• Perform scheduled safety checks, rounds, and environmental oversight, including fire safety and visitor policies.

Required profile

• Willingness to work rotating shifts (6 am‑2 pm, 2 pm‑10 pm, 10 pm‑6 am).
• Commitment to trauma‑informed, person‑centered care.
• Ability to collaborate with clinical and medical staff.
