About the role
The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities seeks a Behavioral Health Counselor 3 to support forensic units at Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta. This full‑time position focuses on ensuring high‑quality treatment planning, compliance, and staff training within an inpatient setting.
Key responsibilities
- Identify training needs and provide guidance to Treatment Team Facilitators on writing treatment plans.
- Conduct internal audits of treatment plans to verify compliance with state standards.
- Develop corrective action plans for audit‑identified deficiencies.
- Ensure timely completion of treatment plans, clinical high‑risk profiles, and incident notes across three forensic units.
- Attend statewide trainings and disseminate relevant information to hospital staff.
- Provide unit coverage for Treatment Team Facilitators during leave, organizing coverage and completing documentation.
- Participate in weekly hospital meetings to deliver clinical updates.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related human services field (or a Bachelor’s degree with four years of related experience).
- Experience working in an inpatient setting with a serious mental illness (SMI) population.
- Experience collaborating on interdisciplinary teams.
