Banquet Manager

About the role

Renaissance Fort Lauderdale-Plantation Hotel is hiring a Banquet Manager in Plantation, FL. The manager runs the banquet department in line with guest service and sustainability standards, with a possible career path toward Restaurant Manager, Director of Catering and Director of Food and Beverage. The salary is $60,000 to $65,000 per year.

Key responsibilities

• Interview, hire, train staff, give performance recommendations and handle discipline or termination when appropriate
• Maintain positive guest relationships and make sure banquet functions meet guest specifications
• Work with the catering department to fix service or communication gaps
• Supervise and inspect function room set-ups for cleanliness and inventory
• Oversee serving staff so alcohol service complies with all regulations and policies
• Ensure cash-handling policies are followed and that accounting practices support SOX compliance
• Enter billing data into the point-of-sale system to generate guest checks
• Check attendance against schedules and reassign server stations as needed
• Set and maintain service standards through training and in-service meetings
• Follow safety standards, including MSDS and OSHA

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• 3 to 5 years of banquet experience required
• Shift work, including holidays, alternate shifts and weekends; standing, walking and lifting up to 50 pounds
