Bakery Quality and Food Safety Manager

About the role

Flowers Foods, Inc., a producer of packaged bakery goods, is hiring a full-time manager in its West Jordan, Utah bakery. The role governs the quality and food safety management process, implements company policies, standards and GFSI standards at the facility, and leads the site quality and food safety team to deliver products that are high quality, safe and legally compliant.

Key responsibilities

• Promote teamwork across departments and manage the site quality and food safety team.
• Maintain logs of documented GMP, internal audit gaps and corrective actions, and manage third-party audits and inspections.
• Manage preventive controls, foreign material compliance, physical, chemical and biological findings, and keep a foreign material log.
• Own the KPIs for food safety, quality and regulatory compliance, and oversee raw and finished goods inspection.
• Maintain the Quality Manual per GFSI standards, verify and validate GFSI systems and changes, and keep daily product reviews and records.
• Ensure hold and release dispositions follow corporate policy, track product complaints, update formula nutritional panels, and run the environmental monitoring program.
• Review the master sanitation schedule and pest control records weekly, ensure ATP testing is complete, and coordinate sample dispositions using outside test results.
• Conduct and attend training on food safety, quality standards and procedures, and keep records of quality reports, tests and inspections.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Cereal Chemistry, Chemistry or a related discipline.
• 5+ years of plant quality assurance / control experience in the food industry, including 2+ years in a supervisory role.
