Bakery Clerk

About the role

Hy-Vee is hiring a Bakery Clerk in its Plymouth store. The Bakery Clerk helps keep the bakery department running smoothly and welcoming, preparing and replenishing products, assisting customers at the counter and supporting the team. No prior experience is required; training and support are provided.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and help them find products, reach items, carry heavy purchases and take orders at the counter
• Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance and supply levels
• Prepare, finish and replenish baked goods, pulling product from the cooler or freezer
• Maintain proper sanitation, keep the work area clean and organized, and remove trash
• Check in product, put it away and review invoices as needed
• Operate the department register to process payments where applicable
• Follow the dress code, hygiene standards and company policies, and help in other store areas and on special projects

Required profile

• Must be 18 years or older
• Less than a high school diploma or equivalent is accepted; up to six months of similar or related experience preferred
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, use basic math, communicate clearly and stay organized in a busy bakery
• Physical demands include frequent standing and walking, and where applicable, using sharp knives and blades, exposure to heat and burn hazards, and operating a delivery vehicle to DOT standards

What we offer

• Anticipated hourly starting wage of $13.50 to $16.80 depending on experience
• Training and support from the Store Director, Store Manager, Assistant Managers, and the Bakery Department Manager

Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment drug screen.
