Backend Software Engineer - Identity

About the role

Atlassian is hiring a Backend Software Engineer focused on its core identity services. The role is remote, with 100% telecommuting permitted, and sits in the Engineering team in San Francisco. You will design, build and operate identity services end to end, from technical design and implementation to testing, deployment and monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and operate core identity services, including writing technical designs, implementing services and writing robust tests.
• Deploy services via CI/CD pipelines and monitor SLOs.
• Take part in on-call duty, incident response and post-incident reviews to maintain operational excellence.
• Build automation to reduce manual toil.
• Mentor peers, conduct design and code reviews, improve documentation and enhance the developer experience.
• Champion security best practices, perform threat modeling and embed privacy-by-design principles into authorization workflows.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Analytics Engineering or a related field.
• Three years of related work experience.
• Three years of experience with microservices-oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs.
• Hands-on experience in the SaaS, PaaS or IaaS space with public or private cloud offerings such as AWS, GCP or Azure.
• Experience delivering software in Agile environments.

Required skills

• Software development in Go, Java, Python, Kotlin, Scala or Go.
• Databases such as RDBMS (Oracle or Postgres) or NoSQL (DynamoDB or Cassandra).
• Algorithms, data structures, systems design, distributed systems concepts (consistency, partitioning, caching).

What we offer

• Salary of $196,600 per year; the role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions and equity.
