Backend Software Engineer – AI Security

About the role

As we work with our first design partners, Cogent is building a suite of backend services and integrations that will power autonomous AI workers. We are looking for talented, ambitious Backend Senior and Staff Engineers who are excited to build in the Applied AI space.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement core backend and integration platform subsystems.
• Adapt systems to meet new design‑partner and customer requirements, including compliance and security.
• Lay down infrastructure foundations for growth, scalability, reliability, disaster recovery and security.
• Prepare the platform for future headcount, data growth and multi‑cloud deployment.
• Contribute to engineering, operational excellence and recruiting initiatives.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on engineering experience leading backend systems and infrastructure projects.
• Proven expertise in architecting, developing and scaling stateless and stateful backend services for enterprise‑level applications.
• Experience with distributed systems, microservices and serverless architectures.
• Ability to mentor and onboard future team members and help shape engineering culture.

• Base salary range $100,000 – $300,000 annually (USD, year).
