AVP Underwriting Director – Large Casualty

About the role

Zurich is seeking an experienced Large Casualty Underwriter to join its National Account Team as an AVP Underwriting Director. The role can be based in San Francisco, Los Angeles, or Denver and focuses on profitable growth and renewal retention of complex commercial insurance risks.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite, analyze, and generate new and renewal large‑casualty business within delegated authority levels.
• Maintain broker relationships in the San Francisco/Northern CA region and support market‑facing production for national accounts.
• Administer underwriting rules, insurance regulations, and rating manual guidelines.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 7+ years underwriting/market‑facing experience, or 14+ years in claims/underwriting support.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and relevant experience (5+ years underwriting or 12+ years claims support).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
