Aviation Maintenance Instructor – Technical Instructor

About the role

The State of Georgia, through Savannah Technical College, seeks a qualified Aviation Maintenance Instructor to deliver comprehensive instruction for aviation maintenance programs. This position involves classroom and laboratory teaching, ensuring students acquire the technical skills required for aircraft maintenance careers.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver all aspects of instruction for aviation maintenance curricula, including theory and hands‑on lab work.
• Prepare lesson plans, assessments, and instructional materials aligned with Part 147 standards.
• Maintain a safe and organized classroom/lab environment, adhering to safety protocols.
• Evaluate student performance and provide feedback to support their professional development.
• Collaborate with college staff to continuously improve program quality.

Required profile

• Associate degree (AS/AAS) in Aviation Maintenance Technology and an FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic Certificate, **or** five years of aviation maintenance experience with an A&P certificate.
• Alternatively, five years of teaching experience in a Part 147 curriculum combined with an FAA A&P Mechanic Certificate.
• Ability to perform physical tasks typical of a lab environment, including lifting up to 50 lb and occasional exposure to grease, dust, and chemicals.
