Authorized Inspector / Trainee (ASME & National Board)

About the role

Bureau Veritas is seeking a hardworking, observant and mechanically‑inclined inspector for the metal fabrication and pressure‑vessel industry in Little Rock. The position is ideal for self‑motivated individuals who prefer to work independently and are eager to receive comprehensive training.

Key responsibilities

• Perform ASME and National Board shop and field inspection services, including code verification and witnessing required tests.
• Monitor client quality‑control systems for compliance with relevant codes and requirements.
• Document all inspection activities in accordance with established policies.
• Ensure compliance with ASME Code, National Board Inspection Code and jurisdictional requirements for construction and repair of boilers and pressure vessels.
• Maintain and continuously update knowledge of applicable code sections through self‑study, internal training and approved courses.

Required profile

• Minimum 4 years experience in nuclear reactors, boiler or pressure‑vessel design, fabrication, inspection or quality‑control (or equivalent STEM degree with 2 years experience).
• High school diploma (or higher) and ability to complete a 2‑week preparatory training on ASME Sections I, IV, V, VIII, IX and B31.1.
• Capability to obtain a National Board Authorized Inspector Commission with “R” endorsement (or already hold the commission).

Required skills

• Knowledge of ASME Code sections I, IV, V, VIII, IX and B31.1.
• Familiarity with the National Board Inspection Code.
• Understanding of boiler and pressure‑vessel codes and regulations.
• Proficiency with computers and basic arithmetic.

What we offer

• Trainee hourly rate of $32.00 – $35.00.
• Fully credentialed salary range of $78,000 – $82,000, negotiable based on credentials and experience.
