Associate/Full Professor & Division Chair – Humanities

About the role

The College of Arts, Sciences and Education at Texas A&M University‑Texarkana seeks an Associate or Full Professor to serve as Division Chair of the Humanities. This is a 12‑month, tenured appointment with tenure granted on arrival pending system approval. The role combines academic leadership with an active faculty portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Provide overall academic and administrative leadership for the Humanities Division, reporting to the Dean.
• Manage the division’s budget, develop curricula, and oversee course scheduling.
• Hire, supervise, and evaluate tenure‑track, non‑tenure‑track, and adjunct faculty.
• Lead faculty committees, coordinate programmatic initiatives, and address student concerns.
• Maintain a teaching load of six credit hours each Fall and Spring semester, with optional summer teaching.
• Continue personal research, scholarship, and service consistent with senior faculty expectations.

Required profile

• Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in a Humanities discipline.
• Demonstrated record of scholarly achievement and effective teaching at the university level.
• Experience in academic administration or leadership preferred.
• U.S. work authorization; the position does not sponsor visas.
