Associate Program Officer / Research Fellow – AI & Global Health

About the role

We are building a new AI × Global Health & Wellbeing team to allocate up to $100 million in grants that accelerate health and economic outcomes in low‑ and middle‑income countries. As an Associate Program Officer or Research Fellow you will help decide which projects receive funding and shape the strategy at the intersection of artificial intelligence and global health.

Key responsibilities

• Identify, investigate and recommend high‑impact grant opportunities within a $100 million exploratory budget.
• Conduct desk research and build back‑of‑the‑envelope models to estimate social returns and cost‑effectiveness.
• Interview domain experts and potential grantees to clarify technical and implementation questions.
• Synthesize evidence from academic literature and evaluate its relevance to our grantmaking.
• Prepare concise written recommendations for senior leadership.
• Monitor and assess ongoing projects to ensure alignment with strategic goals.

Required profile

• At least three years of relevant professional experience or equivalent academic experience.
• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a quantitative social‑science, public‑health, or related field, or comparable experience in consulting, policy, or global‑health implementation.
• Strong analytical abilities, comfort with quantitative modeling, and experience evaluating evidence‑based interventions.
• Passion for leveraging AI to improve health outcomes in low‑resource settings.
