Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering (Robotics & Mechatronics)

About the role

East Texas A&M University seeks an Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering to join the Department of Engineering & Technology. The position will help launch a new B.S. Mechanical Engineering program with a focus on robotics, mechatronics, and laboratory development, and will support ABET accreditation efforts.

Key responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in mechanical engineering, robotics, and mechatronics.
• Develop and maintain laboratory facilities and instructional materials.
• Participate in curriculum design and ABET accreditation preparation.
• Conduct scholarly research and secure external funding.
• Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Demonstrated excellence in teaching and a commitment to student success.
• Evidence of research productivity and potential for external grant acquisition.
• Experience with curriculum development and accreditation processes is preferred.

Required skills

• Expertise in robotics and mechatronics concepts.
• Ability to design and manage engineering laboratory environments.
• Strong communication skills for effective classroom instruction.
