About the role

The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the University of Miami seeks an Associate Professor on the tenure‑earning track to lead a research laboratory, supervise trainees, and contribute to teaching across the university.

Key responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of an independent research lab.
• Supervise and mentor postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, interns, and undergraduate researchers.
• Design, conduct, and publish original scientific investigations related to cancer research.
• Collaborate with faculty in the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and other UM schools.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses and deliver laboratory demonstrations.
• Prepare and submit scientific manuscripts, abstracts, and grant proposals.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biology, or a closely related field.
• Proven record of running a funded research laboratory.
• Experience supervising postdoctoral fellows and graduate students.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated publication record in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Ability to develop collaborative research projects.
• Experience teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level.
