Associate Principal Scientist – Clinical Research

About the role

The Associate Principal Scientist in Clinical Research will lead early‑phase clinical development within Translational Medicine, partnering with Discovery Sciences and Late‑Stage Clinical Research to advance novel therapeutics. This role provides scientific and operational leadership for the design, planning, and execution of early‑phase trials, ensuring compliance with GCP, ICH and regulatory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design, plan and execute early‑phase clinical trials, overseeing safety assessment and risk management.
• Review and interpret trial data, author clinical protocols, investigator brochures, study reports and regulatory submissions.
• Lead cross‑functional project teams, manage timelines, issue escalation and stakeholder communication.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to the development of SOPs, job aids and best‑practice dissemination.
• Represent the organization at professional events and present clinical initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree in Life Sciences (Bachelor + ≥11 years experience, Master + ≥8 years, or PhD + ≥3 years).
• Minimum 6 years of clinical trial experience in a scientific or operations role.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects, solve regulatory and scientific challenges and work across functional boundaries.
• Strong written and oral communication skills with experience in medical and regulatory writing.
