Telehealth Assistant

About the role

North American Mental Health Services is looking for a detail-oriented Telehealth Assistant to join its Telehealth Operations team. The role is full-time and remote, based in the United States, and covers administrative duties and patient services such as scheduling, patient communication, financial transactions and electronic health record management, all while keeping HIPAA compliance in mind.

Key responsibilities

• Collect patient co-payments and cash payments in line with company policy.
• Record financial transactions and patient interactions accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Monitor and respond to patient voicemails promptly and professionally.
• Help patients with scheduling requests, general inquiries and follow-ups, and direct complex concerns to the right healthcare professionals.
• Maintain confidential, HIPAA-compliant patient communications.
• Sort incoming mail, scan and upload patient documents, and keep administrative documentation accurate.
• Support scheduling overflow and daily operations during high-volume periods.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; HR coursework or certification preferred.
• At least one year of experience in an outpatient, community mental health or similar clinical setting preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication, multitasking, time management and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, video conferencing platforms and virtual communication tools.
• Familiarity with EHR systems, patient documentation, healthcare administration and HIPAA compliance.
