Medical-Legal QME/AME Report Writer - Workers' Compensation

About the role

A full-time contractor position (40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm PST) supporting a Workers' Compensation and Personal Injury practice. The role involves turning complex medical records and evaluation findings into clear, comprehensive and legally compliant medical-legal draft reports that follow AMA Guides and statutory standards.

Key responsibilities

• Draft thorough QME, AME and IME reports based on clinical findings, patient histories and physician notes.
• Review, organize and summarize voluminous medical records, diagnostic test results and prior treatment histories into clear chronological summaries.
• Apply the AMA Guides (5th Edition) correctly for Whole Person Impairment (WPI) calculations, causation analysis and legal apportionment.
• Work with evaluating physicians so reports meet standards for substantial medical evidence and statutory filing deadlines.

Required profile

• 2+ years of hands-on experience drafting California QME/AME medical-legal reports for a medical group, QME practice management firm or consulting firm.
• Strong command of the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment (5th Edition) and California Workers' Compensation terminology.

The position is paid at $6 per hour depending on skillset and experience.
