Associate - Facultative Technical Assistant

About the role

Howden Re is the global reinsurance broker and risk, capital and strategic advisor. As it builds out its US facultative business, it is looking for individuals with an entrepreneurial mindset to join the team. The role is based in New York and is classified as exempt under the FLSA.

Key responsibilities

• Support brokers across the team
• Create pre- and post-placement materials
• Construct reinsurance submission materials
• Track reinsurer quotes, authorizations and communications
• Build client presentations in PowerPoint
• Review and edit documents such as large datasets in Excel and reinsurance contracts
• Quantify the impact of different reinsurance structures on large losses and insurance company financials
• Research market trends

Required profile

• 1 to 3 years of experience in reinsurance, underwriting or a related position
• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management & Insurance, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics or a business-related field
• Interest in a career in reinsurance
• Proactive, creative and analytical, able to work independently and in a team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to apply mathematical thinking in a business and insurance environment
• Strong time management, project management and detail-oriented skills
• Authorized to work in the U.S.
