Associate Director, Social Marketplace

About the role

Horizon Media, a marketing and advertising firm founded in 1989 and headquartered in New York City, is hiring an Associate Director for its Social Marketplace. The role combines relationship development, social media strategy and buying oversight, team management, campaign execution and reporting, and sits within the wider Business Solutions, Investment, Traffic and Operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Build relationships across teams and with clients, act as a day-to-day resource and mentor for junior team members, and escalate issues to senior leadership.
• Oversee RFP creation, partner proposals and negotiations, lead social plan development, and own points of view on paid social trends and tools.
• Manage quality assurance of tracking and creative, and oversee financial tracking documents.
• Manage and develop junior team members, including performance reviews, coaching, training needs and career goals.
• Oversee campaign buying from setup to targeting, optimization, measurement and pacing, and approve insertion orders.
• Create media plans, objectives and strategy decks, integrate social insights into planning, and maintain deliverable calendars.
• Review junior team data analysis and client feedback, and help build standardized data processes with Horizon Analytics.

Required profile

• 5+ years of paid social media experience.
• Experience buying ads on Facebook and Instagram is crucial; additional platforms preferred.
• Leadership and supervisory experience developing media professionals.
• Strong communication skills, confident presenting to clients and senior leadership.
• Advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion.

Required skills

• Understanding of marketing principles, analytics and concepts.
• Advanced targeting and retargeting tactics in social.
• Comfort managing budgets and investment levels in social media.
• Full ownership of the social strategy process with partners, clients and internal stakeholders.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills.
