About the role
The Associate Director of Operations and Special Events will lead the planning, execution, and oversight of campus-wide events while ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operational functions. Reporting to senior university leadership, this position supports the University of Arkansas’s mission to foster research, education, and community engagement.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and manage the annual calendar of special events, coordinating logistics, vendors, and stakeholder communication.
- Oversee operational processes across campus departments, ensuring compliance with university policies and safety standards.
- Lead a team of operations staff, providing guidance, performance feedback, and professional development.
- Manage budgets, track expenditures, and prepare financial reports for events and operational initiatives.
- Collaborate with academic units, student organizations, and external partners to enhance event impact and campus visibility.
Required profile
- Demonstrated experience in higher‑education operations or large‑scale event management.
- Strong leadership and organizational abilities with a track record of managing cross‑functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with diverse university constituencies.
- Proven ability to manage budgets and allocate resources effectively.
