Associate Director - Facultative Property/Energy

About the role

Howden Re is building out its US facultative reinsurance business and is looking for individuals with an entrepreneurial mindset to join it. The Associate Director supports senior team members in establishing renewal strategies and execution plans, and works across client portfolios, pricing and contract drafting.

Key responsibilities

• Support senior team members in setting renewal strategy and execution plans
• Compare and contrast reinsurance structures and evaluate their financial cost/benefit on income statement and balance sheet terms
• Create client presentations on structure, pricing and market conditions, and advise clients face to face
• Build submissions and detailed technical analyses for client portfolios
• Coordinate and create pre- and post-binding due diligence procedures for reinsurance transactions
• Work with Contract Drafting on wording negotiations and coordinate with contract drafters and legal/regulatory experts
• Deliver effective client service together with all Howden Re resources

Required profile

• 3-5 years of experience in a business-related position and environment
• Bachelor's degree in Risk Management & Insurance, Finance, Accounting, Mathematics or a business-related field
• Interest in pursuing a career in reinsurance
• Proactive, creative and analytical, able to work independently and in a team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to apply mathematical thinking in a business and insurance environment
• Authorized to work in the U.S.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
• Client-facing work involving pricing, structure and contract wording

What we offer

• Expected annual salary of $90,000-$150,000, depending on experience and location
