Associate Director, Digital Identity (Non-Human, Machine & Agentic Identity)

About the role

Protiviti is hiring an Associate Director for its Digital Identity team, specializing in Non-Human Identity (NHI), Machine Identity, Workload Identity and emerging Agentic Identity. The role helps clients secure and govern identities used by applications, services, cloud workloads, APIs, automation platforms, DevOps pipelines, machines, bots and AI agents. It is based in Chicago, with additional locations listed in Atlanta, Austin, Charlotte, Dallas, Houston, Miami, Orlando, Philadelphia and Tampa.

Key responsibilities

• Strengthen client relationships and guide clients through engagement completion, partnering with strategic clients to manage technology-related risk
• Act as a trusted advisor to CISOs, IAM leaders, cloud security leaders, enterprise architects and platform engineering teams
• Lead engagements covering strategy, assessments, architecture design, implementation oversight, operating model design, governance and roadmaps
• Define Protiviti's point of view on Non-Human Identity, Machine Identity, Agentic Identity and Identity Security for AI
• Support proposal development, business development, alliance relationships and thought leadership
• Mentor consulting teams and oversee project work plans, collaborating across Cybersecurity, Cloud Security, AI Security, Data Security, Infrastructure and Application Security practices

Required profile

• Experience delivering strategic IAM, PAM, NHI or Machine Identity advisory services, including assessments, maturity evaluations, strategy and roadmaps
• Experience designing enterprise operating models and governance frameworks for identity programs
• Ability to explain technical and business risks to executives and boards
• Experience developing identity security standards, policies and control frameworks
• Experience building and mentoring consulting teams

Required skills

• Hands-on experience securing and governing non-human identities (service accounts, application accounts, service principals, API keys, workload identities, bot and AI agent identities)
• Addressing credential sprawl, secrets management, token and certificate lifecycle management, least privilege and identity discovery
• Architect-level knowledge of IAM, IGA, PAM, OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, SCIM, JWTs, Zero Trust and secrets management
• Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Azure Managed Identities, AWS IAM, Google Cloud IAM, Kubernetes, CI/CD and cloud-native workload identity
• Agentic identity experience is not required but helpful
