Associate Director, Assay and Process Development

About the role

The Associate Director, Assay and Process Development will lead a team of scientists and engineers in a high‑complexity cellular and molecular testing laboratory, driving the creation of GLP‑level pre‑clinical assay products from concept through production.

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning and building of biochemistry and cell biology testing processes.
• Collaborate with Principal Investigators and R&D teams to maintain quality control.
• Develop new molecular assays and define performance specifications.
• Design and execute statistical studies such as Definitive Screening Design and DOE.
• Create and maintain process documentation, scale‑up plans, and pre‑clinical documentation.
• Oversee equipment maintenance, calibration, and compliance with safety and HIPAA standards.

Required profile

• PhD or MS in a bio‑engineering related field.
• Extensive experience leading scientific/engineering teams to solve complex problems.
• Proven track record developing pre‑clinical assay products and applying high‑complexity metrics and statistical analyses.
• Hands‑on laboratory experience building processes and products.

Required skills

• Statistical analysis software (JMP, R).
• Design of Experiment software.
• MatLab or equivalent.
• SolidWorks or equivalent drafting software.
• Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
