Associate Dean of Academic Operations

About the role

The Associate Dean of Academic Operations leads the administrative side of Academic Affairs, overseeing scheduling platforms, academic technology, policy development, and accreditation activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide primary leadership for all academic assessment activities and serve as the Academic Liaison Officer to Middle States.
• Lead the Registrar’s Office, Prison Education Program, and supervise the Registrar, General Education Coordinator, and PEP Education Liaison.
• Manage academic scheduling using Ad Astra and coordinate articulation agreements with four‑year institutions.
• Oversee catalog updates, syllabi collection, SUNY program approval processes, and the Brightspace (D2L) platform.
• Develop and implement the Academic Master Plan, Institutional Learning Outcomes, and Credit for Prior Learning processes.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in higher education administration, curriculum and instruction, or related field.
• 5‑6 years of progressive administrative experience in academic affairs or registrar operations.
• 3‑4 years of supervisory experience, including oversight of Prison Education Programs.
• Experience with regional accreditation bodies, preferably Middle States.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Ad Astra scheduling system.
• Experience managing Brightspace (D2L) learning platform.
• Knowledge of Banner academic functions.
