Assistant Dean of Teaching and Learning

About the role

The Assistant Dean of Teaching and Learning reports to the Chief Academic Officer and provides operational leadership for faculty development, instructional quality, and academic support services across the college.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the Center of Innovation, Teaching, and Learning (CITL) and supervise its faculty coordinator and advising staff.
• Manage faculty professional development, tenure and promotion processes, and onboarding for full‑time and part‑time faculty.
• Lead online learning initiatives, including faculty training and support for Brightspace (D2L), and ensure course quality and universal design.
• Implement holistic advising and coaching models, oversee the Honors Program, academic appeals, and student academic‑related complaints.
• Contribute to the academic master plan and participate in college committees.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in higher education, curriculum and instruction, educational leadership, or a related field.
• 3‑4 years of supervisory experience in a community‑college setting.
• Teaching experience in a college environment and progressive experience in faculty development or academic administration.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to equity‑focused teaching.

Required skills

• Experience with Brightspace (D2L) or similar online learning platforms.
