Associate Data Scientist, Marketing

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring an Associate Data Scientist, Marketing, to support data science initiatives that drive business profitability, greater efficiencies and a better customer experience. The role works closely with Data Scientists and/or Senior Data Scientists to build solutions using advanced analytics methods and algorithms to identify trends and provide business solutions. Depending on the team, the associate may develop skills in specializations such as optimization, computer vision, recommendation systems, search or NLP.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop algorithms and models applied to large datasets to create business insights.
• Support data science projects by conducting effective analysis to solve business problems.
• Consult with Data Scientists or Senior Data Scientists on the selection, use and interpretation of advanced analytical methods.
• Learn the assigned business areas to incorporate business-specific knowledge into solutions.
• Communicate insights and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Help prepare reports, updates and presentations on project progress and highlight the impact of recommendations.
• Keep up to date on industry trends and best practices, and apply what is learned.

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States.
• Preferred: Master's degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Math, Statistics, etc.) or equivalent experience.
• Preferred: 3+ years of experience in business intelligence and analytics.
• Preferred: experience in predictive modeling, data mining and data analysis.
• Preferred: basic knowledge of prescriptive modeling (optimization, computer vision, recommendation, search or NLP).

Required skills

• Preferred: working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Preferred: experience with a modern scripting language, preferably Python.
• Preferred: experience running queries against data, preferably with Google BigQuery or SQL.
• Preferred: experience with data visualization software, preferably Tableau.
• Preferred: experience using statistical techniques to find key business insights.
