Associate Data Scientist - FP&A Pro Intelligence

About the role

The Associate Data Scientist works on The Home Depot's Pro Intelligence team, the analytics and data science engine behind the Pro business. The team partners with Pro sales reps and the Pro Desk to turn data into insights and solutions, owns the core Pro models, dashboards and data solutions, and works closely with the Pro Ops team to translate business needs into analytical problems. The role grows into data science work alongside Data Scientists, including predictive modeling and deployment with IT.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop algorithms and models on large datasets to create business insights, and support data science projects with effective analysis
• Consult with Data Scientists or Senior Data Scientists on the selection, use and interpretation of advanced analytical methods
• Learn the assigned business areas to incorporate business-specific knowledge into solutions
• Communicate insights and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences, and support reports, updates and presentations
• Highlight the potential impact of recommendations to drive alignment and implementation
• Keep up to date on industry trends and best practices, and apply what is learned

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• 3+ years of experience in business intelligence and analytics
• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field (Analytics, Statistics, Math, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, etc.); master's degree or equivalent experience preferred
• Strong communication and storytelling skills, able to present to senior business stakeholders

Required skills

• Strong SQL, including complex queries on large datasets (Google BigQuery preferred)
• Advanced Tableau or other BI tools, including dashboards and self-service reporting
• Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Preferred: Python, prescriptive modeling, predictive modeling, model deployment with IT/engineering partners
