Associate Advisor, Private Client
Contrarian Thinking · Austin
Job description
About the role
BizScout is a marketplace connecting businesses to buyers, and its Private Client program acts as a concierge service for serious, qualified buyers: sourcing, screening and underwriting opportunities and guiding buyers from intake through close. BizScout is hiring an Associate Advisor, Private Client in Austin, Texas, to add execution capacity to the senior advisory team as the program scales. The role works day to day alongside senior advisors, and eventually involves direct client contact.
Key responsibilities
- Serve as day-to-day point of contact for assigned buyers, answering questions, gathering feedback on deals and keeping buyers engaged.
- Turn buyer criteria into sourcing direction for the BD team, review sourced opportunities for fit and relay feedback.
- Review CIMs, P&Ls, tax returns and broker packages, normalize financials (SDE/EBITDA add-backs), run valuation and SBA debt-service checks, and write deal summaries.
- Assist in building buyer profiles that BD uses with sellers and brokers.
- Keep buyer pipelines current in the CRM, track deal stages and next steps, and flag closed-lost opportunities for re-engagement.
- Participate in and increasingly lead bi-weekly client calls.
- Support buyers and senior advisors through LOI, diligence and financing to close: build diligence request lists, track lender and third-party deliverables and manage closing timelines.
Required profile
- 2-4 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, search fund, M&A advisory, business brokerage, transaction services or valuation, or SBA/commercial lending.
- Hands-on exposure to business acquisitions, sales or acquisition financing (e.g. as analyst, underwriter or broker associate).
- Bachelor's degree required; finance, accounting or economics preferred.
- Strongly preferred: having led or co-led a business acquisition or sale through close.
Required skills
- Reading small-business financials, calculating SDE/EBITDA with add-backs, applying valuation multiples and testing debt service on SBA-financed deals.
- Strong Excel modeling.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and Google Workspace.
- Clear writing, discretion with confidential information, coachability and ownership.
What we offer
- Salary of $90,000-$105,000 base depending on experience, plus performance bonus eligibility.
- Expected progression to Advisor within roughly 12 months, managing a dedicated client portfolio and eligible for the advisor commission plan.
- Full-time position, 5 days in office in Austin, with travel as needed.
