Assistant/Associate/Professor of Food Animal Medicine & Surgery (Clinical or Tenure Track)

About the role

The Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine seeks a full‑time faculty member at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. The position can be tenure‑track or clinical‑track and focuses on medical and surgical care of farm and food animals, teaching of veterinary students and residents, and service to the university and community.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical care and case management for beef cattle, small ruminants, dairy cattle, swine, camelids, and cervids.
• Deliver clinical instruction to professional students, interns, and residents, including supervision of the Food Animal Health Maintenance Service.
• Collaborate with local veterinarians and support the regional veterinary community.
• Participate in scholarly activities such as teaching, curriculum development, and collaborative research.
• For tenure‑track candidates, maintain an independent research program and contribute to grant‑writing and publications.

Required profile

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree with board certification or eligibility in Food Animal Medicine.
• Demonstrated experience in clinical case management and surgical procedures for farm animals.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with clients, referring veterinarians, and students.
• Commitment to teaching excellence and, for tenure‑track, to independent research.
