Assistant/Associate Extension Agent (4-H Youth Development)

About the role

The LSU AgCenter is seeking an Assistant/Associate Extension Agent to lead the 4-H Youth Development program for Pointe Coupee Parish. Based in the New Roads extension office, the role supports approximately 415 4‑H members, 700 community participants, and a potential youth audience of 2,500 across nine schools.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and deliver 4‑H club activities, including cloverbuds, livestock, shooting sports, art, and junior leaders.
• Develop and maintain a robust adult‑volunteer system and youth‑focused life‑skills curriculum.
• Build and sustain relationships with 4‑H volunteers, the Parish Advisory Committee, schools, and community organizations.
• Promote youth leadership, community service learning, and partnerships between 4‑H and formal education.
• Collaborate with LSU AgCenter faculty and external agencies on interdisciplinary projects.
