Assistant Transportation Researcher

About the role

The Assistant Transportation Researcher supports principal investigators in transportation planning and policy research. Working under general supervision, the role involves data collection, analysis, literature reviews, and preparation of reports and proposals.

Key responsibilities

• Support PIs with data collection, GIS analyses, literature reviews, and related research activities (40%).
• Organize and archive documents, data sets, models, and metadata (15%).
• Prepare written reports, technical memoranda, and survey/interview findings (15%).
• Develop and deliver presentations (10%).
• Assist in proposal preparation (10%).
• Interact with sponsors and potential clients (5%).

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, Public Services and Administration, or equivalent.
• No prior experience required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to multitask, work cooperatively, and present information clearly.

Required skills

• Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analysis.
• Statistical analysis and data interpretation.
• Word processing and spreadsheet applications.
• Online survey design and execution.
• Interview techniques and synthesis of interview data.
• Transportation modeling and analysis.
• License to operate small unmanned aircraft systems under 14 CFR Part 107 (optional).
