Assistant Superintendent – Construction Management

About the role

Mortenson is seeking an experienced Assistant Superintendent to coordinate and supervise subcontractors and craft team members on construction projects. The role involves managing labor, equipment, schedules, and quality while supporting project managers and safety teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage project labor, including craft workers and subcontractors, and review weekly labor reports.
• Approve craft worker certifications, trainings, and timecards.
• Participate in site orientation, safety meetings, and hire/dismissal processes.
• Coordinate on‑site operations, equipment, and schedule development.
• Review quantity takeoffs, material buyouts, and scope of work during the procurement phase.
• Support safety audits, quality control, and performance evaluations of craft workers.
• Maintain communication with equipment providers and ensure proper documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years of construction management or related experience.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100%.
• Completion of or interest in a Master, Journeyman, or Apprentice electrician program preferred.
• Basic understanding of construction law and business practices.

Required skills

• Microsoft Office proficiency.
• Experience with project management and web‑based applications.
• Electrical circuitry knowledge or ability to be qualified by Mortenson Electrical Managers.
