Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for Olympic Sports

About the role

The Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach will work under the Director of Strength & Conditioning to prepare male and female student‑athletes at the University of Maryland for intercollegiate competition across Olympic sports.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement athletic enhancement programs focusing on power development, plyometrics, agility, energy system development, and sport‑specific movement training.
• Monitor athlete progress, report on performance metrics, and adjust programs to meet individual and team needs.
• Collaborate with sports medicine, nutrition, psychology, academic support, and coaching staff.
• Maintain a safe training environment, ensuring correct technique and adherence to policies.
• Work evenings, weekends, and travel as required to support events and athlete needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
• Minimum two years of experience in collegiate or professional athletic performance programs.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to multitask, organize, and work effectively in a team‑based environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
• CSCCa or NSCA certification, plus First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications.
