Assistant Store Director - Canton, MI

About the role

Meijer is looking for an Assistant Store Director for its Canton, MI store. The role provides direction on operations, processes and store conditions, plans and supervises the day-to-day team, and is responsible for the selection, training, development and performance management of all team members in its span of care.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Store Director in running overall store operations and act as the store's point of contact in their absence
• Manage planograms, seasonal resets and endcaps, following the company merchandising planograms and using 85/15 to design orders, ad sets, displays and pricing
• Lead performance management for leaders and team members, including ratings, career development and promotion potential
• Recruit, select and retain a team that supports the Meijer culture, including diversity, equity and inclusion
• Hold daily huddles sharing financial performance, customer feedback and recognition
• Drive store profitability through sales, shrink, labor, margin, direct contribution, net profit and customer satisfaction, and implement initiatives identified by store operations
• Ensure customer needs are met, complaints are resolved quickly, and products and displays are merchandised to maximize sales
• Verify that operations follow Meijer and local authorities' food safety standards
• Cultivate relationships with the local community and stay informed on competitor trends

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
• Minimum 5+ years of retail, grocery, operations management or customer service experience
• 4+ years of progressive leadership experience
• Strong business acumen and proactive, creative thinking
