Assistant Scientist – Proteomics

About the role

The University of Miami's Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center seeks a full‑time Assistant Scientist to join its newly established Proteomic Shared Resources. The role supports cutting‑edge quantitative proteomics research aimed at advancing cancer diagnostics and biology.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and operate a high‑resolution Orbitrap Ascend Tribrid LC‑MS instrument.
• Perform detailed biochemical sample processing and LC‑MS‑based quantitative proteomics experiments.
• Design, execute, and analyze experiments, contributing to basic and applied research projects.
• Collaborate with senior scientists to publish findings in refereed journals.
• Prepare extramural grant proposals and technical reports.
• Manage experimental data and ensure compliance with university policies.

Required profile

• Doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Minimum of 1 year of relevant research experience.
• Strong ability to collect, organize, and analyze scientific data.
• Problem‑solving skills and sound judgment for critical decisions.

Required skills

• LC‑MS techniques for quantitative proteomics.
• Operation and maintenance of Orbitrap mass spectrometers.
• Biochemical sample processing for proteomic analyses.
• Data analysis and interpretation in a research setting.
