About the role

The Department of Surgery, Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine seeks an Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery. The role combines patient care, resident supervision, and teaching of medical and dental students.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive clinical care in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
• Supervise residents at the University of Miami/Jackson Health System and the Miami Veterans Administration Hospital.
• Teach junior and senior elective programs for medical and dental students.
• Participate in departmental activities, research protocols, and funding initiatives.
• Document all services in patient medical records and adhere to hospital policies.

Required profile

• Excellent academic record with recognized teaching abilities.
• Board‑certified or board‑eligible by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS).
• Strong knowledge of professional medical/dental principles and pharmacology.
• Effective verbal and written communication with professional bedside manner.

Required skills

• Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery clinical expertise.
• DDS or DMD degree from a CODA‑accredited program.
• Proficiency in surgical evaluation, treatment planning, and execution.
• Knowledge of pharmacological agents used in patient care.
