Assistant Professor of Clinical Radiation Oncology & Medical Physics

About the role

The University of Miami seeks an Assistant Professor to provide clinical medical physics support across multiple radiation therapy sites. This full‑time faculty position involves both patient‑care activities and academic responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Commission and perform continuous quality assurance on linear accelerators and other external‑beam equipment.
• Provide physics consultation, treatment planning, image acquisition, and verification for conventional, IMRT, VMAT, TBI, TSET, MR‑guided (ViewRay), SRS, and SBRT therapies.
• Conduct weekly physics chart checks and oversee HDR/LDR brachytherapy QA.
• Supervise dosimetrists and coordinate dosimetric procedures.
• Teach resident and graduate medical physics programs, including lectures and hands‑on training.
• Participate in research and scholarly activities as directed by the Chief of Medical Physics.

Required profile

• PhD in medical physics, engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum two years of clinical experience.
• ABR certification or eligibility.
• Full‑time faculty appointment.

Required skills

• Linear accelerator commissioning and quality assurance.
• Treatment planning for IMRT, VMAT, TBI, TSET, MR‑guided radiation therapy, SRS, and SBRT.
• HDR and LDR brachytherapy physics.
• Physics chart review and QA procedures.
• Dosimetry supervision and collaboration.
