Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology – Regional

About the role

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is expanding and seeks an Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology with a focus on Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Management. This faculty position involves clinical care, teaching, and supervision of trainees.

Key responsibilities

• Perform and supervise a full range of peripheral and neuraxial nerve block techniques.
• Manage acute and acute‑on‑chronic pain patients in an inpatient setting.
• Supervise residents and fellows, providing education and mentorship.
• Participate in departmental academic activities, including conferences and faculty meetings.
• Provide on‑call coverage one week per month, including one weekend, with duties performed from home.

Required profile

• Completion of a US‑approved residency in Anesthesiology (or equivalent).
• Board eligibility or certification in Anesthesiology.
• Fellowship in Regional Anesthesia and Acute Pain Management, or substantial experience in the field.
• Strong interest in academic medicine; research experience is highly desirable.

• Superficial and deep cervical plexus blocks
• Interscalene, supraclavicular, infraclavicular, axillary, elbow, and wrist blocks
• Femoral nerve, adductor canal, fascia iliaca blocks
• Sub‑gluteal and lateral popliteal sciatic nerve blocks
• IPACK, TAP, rectus sheath, PEC1, PEC2, ESP, and stellate ganglion blocks
• Catheter placement for continuous peripheral nerve blocks
• Regional anesthesia and acute pain management techniques
