Assistant Professor of Clinical – Anesthesiology, Obstetrics

About the role

The Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Medicine and Pain Management at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine seeks an Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology with a focus on Obstetrics. The position involves delivering high‑quality anesthesia care, teaching, and contributing to the department’s growth.

Key responsibilities

• Provide anesthesia for routine adult surgeries and a broad range of obstetric procedures, including complex cases such as accreta.
• Manage anesthesia for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures (MRI, CT, invasive radiology, ABR testing, gastrointestinal and minor oncology cases).
• Perform pre‑admission anesthetic evaluations for obstetric patients with complicated medical conditions.
• Deliver acute post‑operative pain management using patient‑controlled analgesia, epidural, and caudal techniques.
• Participate in critical care teams caring for obstetric patients in intensive care settings.
• Supervise residents, CRNAs, and SRNAs and conduct independent cases as needed.

Required profile

• US‑approved residency in Anesthesiology (or equivalent training).
• ABMS‑accredited Fellowship in Obstetric Anesthesiology.
• Board eligibility or certification in Obstetric Anesthesiology (or case‑by‑case equivalence).
• Eligibility for an unrestricted Florida medical license.
• Research experience is desirable but not mandatory.
