About the role

The Department of Marine Biology and Ecology at the University of Miami invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor. The position supports research and teaching in either Marine Biomedical Science or Quantitative Systems Ecology, fostering interdisciplinary work that links marine organisms to human health and ecosystem dynamics.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead an externally funded research program aligned with departmental goals.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in marine biology, ecology, or related fields.
• Mentor graduate students and post‑doctoral researchers.
• Contribute to departmental service, including curriculum development and outreach.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners such as NOAA, NMFS, and AOML.

Required profile

• Strong record of scholarly research and successful grant acquisition.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate marine organismal biology with biomedical or quantitative ecological approaches.
