Assistant Professor, Industrial Hygiene (Tenure Track)

About the role

The University of Utah’s Industrial Hygiene program seeks a tenure‑track Assistant Professor to advance its research, teaching, and service missions. The position will join a nationally‑recognized faculty team focused on aerosol science and exposure assessment, contributing to graduate education and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and sustain an extramurally funded research program in Industrial Hygiene or a related area.
• Teach up to two graduate courses per year and contribute to curriculum development.
• Recruit, mentor, and supervise graduate students in research projects.
• Provide service to the university, professional societies, and the broader community; advanced rank may include up to 25 % administrative duties.
• Mentor junior faculty (for advanced rank) and engage in professional outreach.

Required profile

• PhD in Occupational/Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a closely related field.
• For senior/advanced rank: minimum five years of experience in Industrial Hygiene.
• Demonstrated potential (or record) of obtaining extramural research funding.
• Certification as a CIH or eligibility to become certified is highly desirable.
