Assistant Professor in Cultural Heritage Informatics

About the role

The School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin is seeking up to two tenure‑track Assistant Professors in Cultural Heritage Informatics to begin in Fall 2025. The position focuses on research and teaching that explores the work, structure, and social impact of cultural‑heritage institutions such as libraries, museums, and archives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead an independent research agenda that advances knowledge and practice in cultural‑heritage informatics.
• Teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to cultural heritage, information science, and digital stewardship.
• Mentor graduate students and contribute to curriculum development.
• Engage with external cultural‑heritage organizations to foster collaborative projects and community impact.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Information Science, Library Science, Digital Humanities, or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated potential for high‑quality, peer‑reviewed research in cultural‑heritage informatics.
• Commitment to inclusive teaching and the ability to work with diverse student populations.
• Interest in interdisciplinary collaboration across libraries, museums, archives, and related institutions.

Required skills
