Assistant Nurse Manager - Orthopaedics and Oncology

About the role

The Assistant Nurse Manager will support both the 5S Orthopaedics Unit and 5N Oncology Unit at Indian River Hospital, providing leadership, coordinating clinical operations, and ensuring high‑quality patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate unit clinical operations, including patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
• Facilitate communication among caregivers, other departments, and ensure continuity of patient information between shifts.
• Conduct clinical evaluations, counsel staff on performance, and manage corrective actions and attendance.
• Interview, select, orient new caregivers and prepare work schedules to ensure adequate coverage.
• Participate in quality improvement projects, research initiatives, and assume Nurse Manager duties in their absence.

Required profile

• Graduate from an accredited nursing school with a BSN.
• Current RN licensure in the state and BLS certification.
• Two years of recent clinical nursing experience.
• Completed ONS Chemo/Bio course within two years of hire for oncology units.
• Strong clinical knowledge and skills.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• ONS Chemo/Bio certification.
