Assistant Nurse Manager – Med/Surg Stroke Unit

About the role

The Assistant Nurse Manager supports the Nurse Manager on the fast‑paced Med/Surg 6th Floor unit, providing clinical supervision, coordinating daily operations, and ensuring high‑quality patient care for a diverse medical population.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day operations of the unit, overseeing nursing personnel and patient care providers.
• Anticipate and resolve patient care issues, ensuring continuity of care through effective communication with other departments.
• Conduct clinical evaluations, counsel staff on performance, and participate in hiring and appraisal processes.
• Monitor adherence to EEO/AAP goals, departmental policies, and regulatory standards.
• Oversee outpatient clinic flow, staffing, and supplies; prepare work schedules to assure adequate coverage.
• Participate in quality‑improvement projects, outcomes studies, and research initiatives.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a BSN.
• Current RN licensure in the state.
• Minimum two years of clinical nursing experience.
• Strong oral, written, analytical, and organizational abilities.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
