Assistant Head Chef / Cafe (No Nights/Weekends/Holidays)

About the role

The Assistant Head Chef for the cafe reports to the District Manager and independently manages day‑to‑day food service operations in a school kitchen. The role ensures meals are prepared, presented, and served on time with dignity while meeting the needs of students and school partners.

Key responsibilities

• Engage with students to provide a positive, uplifting dining experience.
• Maintain a clean, presentable service line and ensure meals are served on schedule in compliant portions.
• Coordinate meal readiness, staging, and service flow to guarantee accurate portioning.
• Share information between teams, resolve workflow conflicts, and keep operational systems and databases up to date.
• Address day‑of concerns with school partners, inform the Head Chef and District Manager, and collaborate with the kitchen team on same‑day issues.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years experience in an operational or administrative role supporting cross‑functional teams.
• 1+ year in a customer‑facing role (preferred).
• Food Handler Certification (or must obtain within 30 days of hire).
• Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
