Assistant General Manager

About the role

Marriott Mystic Hotel & Spa in Groton, CT, is looking for an Assistant General Manager. The role supervises and manages hotel departments and oversees hotel operations as directed, with a growth path to General Manager, Area General Manager and Regional Director of Operations. The hotel has 285 rooms and is located near Mystic.

Key responsibilities

• Interview, select, train, schedule, coach and support associates so they meet brand and hotel standards
• Oversee departments to ensure high-quality service for guests
• Assist the GM with forecasts and reports, and help develop, implement and monitor the budget to maximise revenue and minimise expenses
• Monitor guest satisfaction scores and brand standards, resolve complaints and anticipate problems
• Oversee property accounting, including accounts payable and receivable, house bank audits, petty cash and taxes, and coordinate with the corporate accounting department on payroll
• Ensure internal audit standards are met and serve on the hotel's safety committee
• Work with sales staff on strategies to improve occupancy and revenue, and maintain front office systems and equipment
• Create action plans to remedy guest service deficiencies and follow OSHA and MSDS safety standards

Required profile

• Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred
• Intermediate knowledge of overall hotel operations
• Schedule varies and may include holidays, weekends and alternate shifts
• Physical demands include standing for long periods, walking, lifting up to 25 pounds and bending, reaching and kneeling
